The Phil Dando Brass Ensemble operates either as a quintet or a dectet. The original quintet was formed as one of the resident music ensembles at the 1992 Garden Festival - Wales at Ebbw Vale in South Wales. This was a five month contract which enabled the group to build up a substantial and varied repertoire.

Current engagements include weddings (both church and civil ceremonies, and receptions), garden parties, park bandstands, music clubs and societies, music festivals etc.

The group has expanded to a ten piece brass dectet on numerous occasions. The most notable of these was for several of the World Cup Rugby matches at the Millenium Stadium. The performances were broadcast live, worldwide.
